New Wage Rates in Member's Area
Fair Work Australia has handed down its minimum wage adjustment for 2010. There will be an increase to the National Minimum Wage of $26, which will take effect from the first pay period on or after 1 July 2010.
REEF has prepared wage rate schedules as a result of the National Minimum Wage increase and the transitional arrangements prescribed by the Modern Awards. The wage rate schedules can be downloaded from the new “Rates of Pay” page in the “Member’s Area” of our website. To assist members in navigating through the complexity of the transitional arrangements, this new page contains a step-by-step guide to assist you in determining the new pay rates for all of your staff. Member’s are encouraged to follow these steps and consult the material that REEF has produced on the transitional arrangements for guidance. If further assistance is required contact REEF to speak with an Adviser.
Staff need to be aware of their new classification
There is an obligation for employers in the real estate industry to make all staff that were employed prior to 1 January 2010 aware of their 'new' classification under the Modern Awards.
In this regard, REEF have prepared a template letter for members that can be downloaded from the "Record Keeping" section of our Member's Area.
Fair Work Information Statement
From 1 January 2010, all employers regardless of status as a constitutional corporation have a legal obligation to give each new employee a Fair Work Information Statement before, or as soon as possible after, the employee starts employment.
